EPISODE #111 – “BE PREPARED”SAFETY EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVE – EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS PRO-SOCIAL EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVE – OBEDIENCE The Danger Rangers teach viewers and the children living at the Pine Lake orphanage a lesson in the importance of emergency preparedness and obedience when they make a surprise visit to the Pine Lake Emergency Jamboree. As Burble recounts his early experiences with emergency preparedness with Mr. and Mrs. Boxer and the kids, Luke and Danny ignore safety precautions and go out on the lake alone without permission. When a thunderstorm strikes, Luke and Danny are stuck offshore, in great danger, and need to be rescued by the Danger Rangers. Viewers learn the necessity of owning up their fears, and planning for all kinds of unexpected emergency situations, including fire, storm, flood, earthquake, hurricane, rock-slide, and more in order to successfully manage these dire situations. It is vital to have an emergency kit that includes a working flashlight with batteries, a blanket, non-perishable food, water, and a telephone; to have an emergency plan that includes staying calm, taking a minute to assess the situation, and knowing the phone number of someone outside of one’s area to report to on one’s condition; and to know escape routes.
